WAMBUCO
CEIFA ambiente is one of the partners of a European group established for the purpose of producing the first European manual about construction and demolition waste. This research project is known as WAMBUCO–Waste Manual for Building Construction–and will be financed by CRAFT, the 5th European Community Framework Programme. The project officially started at the end of 2002 and will last for approximately 24 months.
Its main objective is to provide SMEs from the civil construction sector with a set of reference indicators (C&DW indices) and a tool that will allow not only for the implementation of good environmental practices, but also for an increase in economic use of resources and productivity. The project is being developed in close conjunction with the construction sector, on premises (building yards) where several pilot projects will be carried out. The indicators and tools will be formed, tested and made functional during the two years of the project’s duration, in the form of several construction and restoration works that will be carried out in the five European countries that the project partners are based in.
